The Flint Journal... Behind the Scene
Meet our featured reporter, CLAIRE - Honor student, drill team dancer, clairinet player, heartbreaker! Currently a freshman, this reporter has an impressive resum. She's been seen in print as a model for Dallas Child magazine, and had several articles published in her school paper and community newsletter. This crack journalist also won a national essay writing contest and has received numerous awards related to her writing abilities.
Claire has also danced with the Irving Ballet and performed with the stage company Kids To Go. Her television debut was a Spirit of Texas commercial for channel 8. She currently dances with the Gold Duster's Drill Team, and has been selected to be an officer in the coming year.
This reporter has also won awards for her clarinet performances - including All-Region band selection and 1st Division trio competition.
After selection for state recognition for outstanding ACT scores in 7th grade, Claire was invited to participate in a program that would allow her to attain both high school and college credit at the same time at Duke University. But, ever faithful to the Journal, she decided to go to high school "the regular way."
Don't know how she manages to keep her straight A average on the Distinguished Scholar Honor program at school and still finds time for the Journal and her boyfriend! We feel honored to have such a multi-talented staff member.

Sandy is blood related to several members of the Flint Journal staff... sister to the Publisher, mother to the Editor in Chief, and aunt to a contributing reporter. She is also the only subscriber to ever submit a letter to the editor with a complaint.......
Sandy's interests include: high drama, grilled pork chops, squirrels, woobies, Mel Gibson, corner condos at the beach, hiding Easter eggs, shelling peas, casinos, looking for facial features in tortillas, killing bonsai, driving The Beast, shopping, making cornbread, growing uneaten vegetables and an occasional beverage.

FEATURED FAMILY MEMBER/FRIEND OF THE MONTH WITH LOCAL TIES
FEATURED FLINT PET OF THE MONTH! Super Sugar! The Flint Journal pet has seniority over all the other mutts/cats. About eight years old now, she always enjoys a cool ice cream, writing silly songs (like "Mostly Meatloaf), cleaning her stuffed animals, digging and barking at the U.P.S. man. Her main duties at the Journal are lying under the Publisher's feet and occasionally emiting "aromas."

Here is a partial list of famous "Sugar songs:"

In the Meat Shop
Mostly Meatloaf
Sugar Love, Sugar Love
He Bucky Beautiful
Stair Sittin' (Alone)

Gosh... doesn't this family just OOOOZE with talent! I mean that in a GOOD way. Really.

At press time, we were unable to locate a photo of someone pining flowers on Sugar. We regret this lack of consistancy.....
